A still from the movie PAAMost of us would have already watched "PAA"and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".....So got an opportunity to talk about Progeria disease which Amitabh Bacchan (Auro) and Brad Pitt respectively suffer from.
Progeria comes from Greek .Pro means 'before' and geria means 'old age'.It is a disease which is caused by mutation and most doctors around the world feel it is not hereditary.It is a rare disease where approximately 1 child is affected in every 4-8 million newborns.
Children suffering from Progeria are born normal but after some months ie 10 to 24 months,they start showing the signs of aging like loss of hair,loss of body fat,halted growth......
The average life span of progeria patients is 13 years (8-21 years).Most progeria patients die of progressive heart disease.Sadly there is no effective treatment for Progeria though many researches are still happening.
